My Youngest Heart Throb
Welcome to Grandchild number 8

Welcome to the world Wrenley Catherine Ann
My latest grand miracle who undoubtedly can
Wrap my heart around a tiny finger
Force my gaze upon you to linger
Number eight grandchild you may be
My 2nd grand daughter you see
With 1 sister and 3 older brothers
Three boy cousins from another mother
Still you are unique unto yourself
My own bright and mischievous little elf
All eight are mine, proof there is meaning
Proof there is a God upon whom to be leaning
Born you were on February 26
A hole in our heart only you could fix
I hope to be here to watch you grow
Hold your hand and tickle your toes
Teach you to walk, run, swing, slide… hope
Catch you when you slip from life’s knotted rope
Read you tales of castles, unicorns, princesses, knights
Bandage your scrapes when you get in a fight
I will give advice when some boy asks you out
Give a shoulder to cry on when you want to shout
I know I’m granddaddy, not mom or dad
But know I’ll be there whenever you’re sad
Call me when you need a heart to heart
Or just want to laugh about your brother’s smelly fart
When you graduate from school I’ll be so proud
Right in the front shouting so loud
When you marry someday should you choose to do so
I’ll be telling him or her to watch over you and be not low
It is my hope to watch all of these things
From finger strings to diamond rings
But if I don’t make it to see it all
I’ll watch from above to ensure you don’t fall
