My Poem A Day In February
Just a small sample

Happy days, loving my poetry buddies
Thank you for all you do and all the goodies
Poetry is great, just like all my hoodies!

Authors Note: My first stornello above. I like to introduce different formats throughout Poem a Day in February (PaDiF) and I get some of those formats from other writers.
[Calvin’s London’s note: The Stornello (plural: Stornelli) is a poem with 3-line stanzas. Each line has 11 syllables, and all three lines in the stanza rhyme(ish).
The second line can be a *slant rhyme. (*similar sound but not identical)
This form of lyric poetry is said to have originated in Tuscany, Italy, as improvised entertainment performed by singers in a tavern. One singer would improvise a Stornello, and the second person would respond with their own improvised Stornello.
I think of them as Haiku poems on steroids!]

My daughter and I were on our way to a Glass with Class studio to finish our stained glass projects from last year when I remembered it was the eighth of the month and time to rhyme. I asked for help to write an encouraging piece for my writers' group, so this was short but sweet this time!
The eighth is time
For all to rhyme
Spit it out
That’s what it’s about
Just give a shout
Saturday is great
Time to skate
So we won’t be late
~~~~
During PaDiF, we had a week of rhyme only. It is important to get the rhyme in but not much rhymes with rhyme, except time. So it tends to be a repeat rhyme all the time in my posts during PaDiF. I introduced it with the following.
Sunshine is the best time
Unless it’s February and we rhyme
No one knows how healing
Sometimes it leaves you reeling
High up in the sky the sun
Is shining bright and it’s fun
Not me but others like to run
Every day they say is a running one.
~~~~
Then, I will end with this and include comments:
It is Thursday
and the sun is out today
at 7:20 on this day
the birds are singing
my ears are ringing
I put my asema out yay
~
A granddaughter is so smart
unlike her grandpa who is a fart
She says she is so grateful
not one bit hateful
She says her list is endless
and yet, she can say this and she is childless
She is grateful for her shoes
I’m grateful she doesn’t mention booze
She said, “Your outlook on your life is EVERYTHING.”
Her attitude today is better than anything!
Yay, Mckenzie!
Boo, Grandpa the Monkey!
Comments on the above:

Autumn said (Another granddaughter that is smart):
My favorite part
Is when you called Grandpa a fart
Tickled my heart
Hey, at least she didn’t say shart
Anyways…gotta go restart

Only you can write a poem that rhyme and make me laugh at the same time. Sorry I was able to participate this year to your February poetry program
Hahahahahahahahaha the fart and the monkey 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cute stuff Denise! 💕💖🫶🏾
