My Oak Tree

My Strength

Sound

Like the roots of an Oak tree

Stable you stand

As time tolls,

Bells ring,

Birds wake,

Whilst bark rises with a new day

It flaunts not it's resilience

But lays shade for strangers

This is you

Steady

Like an Oak tree's branch

And always with open eyes

Growing,

Changing,

Hurting,

And again

You were made for the sun

Like an Oak tree's leaf

In day's celebration

Yet no night nor winter

Could lay waste to you

And again

Dawn breaks

You wake your tired bones

You shake nightmares from each and every pore

And still here you stand

Strong

Yes you may waver

As nature is bound to

But no storm

No snow

No drought

Could end you

You remain through every ounce of pain

My shade

My comfort

My strength

My Oak tree
