My life time love
Never apart in 36 years and still each day love grows

My life time love
We met with jam-stained fingers
over the fence our fathers built,
chalk on hands, and grazed-up knees,
summer drifting soft between
We shared the swing, the school bell too,
your laugh behind me in the hall,
a secret glance across the room
that said far more than words could do
One day you held my shaking hand,
a kiss beneath the autumn tree,
and every world I ever knew
began and ended there with you
We worked, we dreamed, we made a place,
the walls were thin, the nights were long,
but in the dark, you’d pull me close
and hum our babies into song
Three children came, with eyes like yours,
with mischief bright and steady grace,
you mended bikes and bedtime fears
I kissed each freckled sleeping face
Now still we lie as silence grows
a soft lamp glows beside our bed
I hear your heart beat next to mine
the rhythm where all time has fled
Oh love of mine, you mean the world
and I to you, you always say
we’ve never been apart, not once
and still I love you more each day
