It is my responsibility to determine my fate

It is never up to you to choose my mate

I will give my affection to whomever I choose

I will withhold it as well, if I determine I need to

I will boldly and proudly display who I am

And need no permission from any other human

I will create an intentionally firm boundary line

That separates you from me and your life from mine

I will write my own script for living

Your script is for you, and it isn’t for sharing

When I mess up, as I surely will

It will be on me and me alone to heal

Please take note that your god is not my own

I will determine who sits on my throne

I will listen for the music that thrums within

And no one will be able to label my sins

If there comes a moment when our wills are at odds

Please know, I care for you, but I will follow my own guide
