A Guide for Humankind

To be read to new humans upon arrival to earth;

To be referred to when a human gets a little lost!

First, there will be a day when you learn how to walk

When this day comes, don’t be afraid of the fall

One day you will speak, and it is important to learn

Your words are you power, use them for good

You will learn about love, friendship and care

This is your humanity, handle it well

You have a truth within you that will be your guide

Never let another human convince you to hide

Everything you do impacts our collective future

Use your moment here replenish rather than pilfer

You may see that humans can be unkind and cruel

Get curious about why, then stand for justice and truth

You are more like other humans than it seems

You are also unique, so follow your own dreams

At times you must remember that you are incredibly small

At other times, you must claim how big you really are

This life is a one-time gift, and it cannot be exchanged

Grow in wisdom and strength, but never forget to play

An essential part of life is ultimately, death

Live every moment to the fullest knowing it isn’t the end

You will live on in the love you give to the world

Your impact is great, do all kinds of good

Please share this broadly to the next generation
