My Awakening
When the fog lifts, you finally start to see things a little clearer.

The screaming didn’t echo,
it swallowed me whole.
Rage rang louder than reason.
Even the walls flinched
when you slammed the door.
And I forgot what silence felt like.
I’m not your problem anymore.
This is no longer a revolving door.
It’s a boundary.
And it doesn’t bend for you anymore.
You walked out of my life.
And I realized.
You just gave my oxygen back.
Judge me all you want.
I’m not listening.
Your punches can’t reach me anymore.
The only person I’m picking up after,
is me.
Can you hear that?
It’s the sound of my awakening.
How did I not see
how bad it had become?
The moment you left,
I felt the silence,
untangle from your toxicity.
And I realized
what freedom actually feels like.
Oh, how I realized
I didn’t have to live like that.
I thought you shattered me.
But really,
You only shattered
the illusion I mistook for love.
I’m free.
I can breathe.
I can soak in the sun.
You won’t ever have the power
to darken my world again.
I’m taking it back.
I’m locking the door.
You’ll be like a forgotten chore,
a distant memory
the world won’t even recall.
My greatest revenge
will be my silence.
My happiness
will speak louder,
than any damage
you could ever inflict.
I choose me.
I choose to be free.
