Be Prepared, Always Take a Taxi
Make it a safe night out

Be Prepared, Always Take a Taxi
The night stretches wide, the streets gleam with caution.
Feet weary, laughter fading into the distant hum.
We think we can walk it, fearless and unbound,
But shadows gather where we cannot see.
The lights flicker, a warning soft and subtle.
Doors close behind us, the world turns quiet.
Promises of safety feel fragile in the dark,
And the thrill of freedom carries a hidden cost.
A taxi waits, engine humming like a gentle promise.
Its headlights pierce the night, steady and sure.
We hesitate, stubborn, clinging to independence,
Yet every step away feels heavier than the last.
Hands gripping the door, warmth seeping in,
We surrender to the journey, letting caution lead.
The road rolls beneath us, a steady heartbeat,
And we realize some risks are never worth the price.
The city drifts past in a blur of neon and glass.
We breathe easier, the tension melting slowly.
Every corner we avoided, every misstep unseen,
Reminds us that foresight carries its own quiet grace.
We arrive unscathed, the night behind us like a story.
Moments of recklessness replaced by careful relief.
To be prepared is a lesson softly whispered,
Always take a taxi when the dark grows too deep.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️
