Murderous thoughts and a Biker Dude
And the motor-thing dude. Seriously loud.
Dear World
I think that I have watched too many movies
For it seems that I too,
have become inured to the notion of death
There is a dude outside my window
My loud annoying neighbor to the right
He revs his bike for 10 minutes every early morning
nights and afternoons, jolting everyone,
including wailing infants, from their much needed slumber
Then he goes jetting off (even louder) rather noisily to his wherever
Now today, to make matters worse
The neighbor on my left bought himself a very deafening
motor-powered even more horrendous noisy something
He uses it to power-trim the tiny, pertinacious, persistent and
rather willfully stubborn and annoying grass which grows
between the cracks of the tiles in front of his garage
I mean, who does that...use you hands dude
or a weed-whacker or something quieter
For neither drought, the freeze of winter or the many tricks of men
Can prevent those buggers from forever regrowing with might and grit.
Becoming extremely more annoyed as day turns into another day...and I am sitting here thoughtfully
trying my best to the composin' of frivolous poetry and whimsical fancies
my concentration now has no choice, but to focus on the furor and din.
Mind you...bikes are cool---I don't mind hopping onto one and cruise the hills and countryside---Far away from my neighbors!!!
But friends, folks-people...keep the noise down in the quiet of the neighborhood
So now, please---I am sure you will understand my chagrin
when I utter quite vexedly:
"Will someone please go kill that very annoying dude". I meant it too
For he had started this commotion beginning the evening prior
And unforgivingly picked it right back up this morning.
Now, tell me you don't sympathize with my frame of thought
Although I was only talking to myself
I did hear an amused giggle, a teenager had been passing by
I thought that no one had been within earshot to hear my request
Realizing my 'setting of a bad example', now...
Now I am in the mood to rip out all the bloody video games
with which the young kids entertain themselves in various modes of murdering rampage, sitting glued to their screens
I should throw them in the fire, just to shield the young from violence
We are what we are teaching ourselves and our children to become
So concerned have I become, that the thought of raining death upon my
hardworking, if misguided (well within his rights) neighbor
Left me unphased and quite willing to knock him flat
just so I could have a quiet day off---In my defense
It is a holiday after all.
BTW. The 16 y/o found my outburst quite entertaining.
They laugh in the face of violence.
Alas! What have we done to the young.
Signed...
Maybe I shouldn't say. Just in case.

This was so entertaining and relatable. I loved tour philosophical musings about our tolerance for violence, and the very simple irritation with super loud bikes. It really does just sound like theyβre being annoying on purpose
We had a neighbor who decided removing the headers from his 4wd all-terrain monster truck sounded cool, especially every morning as he left for work between 6 & 7 a.m. I believe, Antoni, you were being completely civil under the circumstances.
Ha ha. I have a few people who I feel that way about. The movies make it seem so easy. Glad you got that off your chest.
Well done, your poem was very entertaining and definitely relatable! It reminds me that I have two dabbling mechanics on my block - I think there might be 15 cars between them on the streets at all times... This thought and your poem remind me of the Hassles Scale. You might find it interesting!
This is a good way to get things off your chest. Your story read like a Letter to the Editor. Good job.
