Murals and Mirrors
A Couple Musings in Some Couplets
Adopted by my city’s busy streets
A mixing of deep roots and refugees
And those of us from somewhere in between
An urban canvas soaked in striking scenes
A melting pot and palette of flavor
A city so full of vibrant color
Is tangled up in too many red lines
From greedy and power hungry designs
Although some might say the past is the past
Choices made back then have effects that last
We play a generational blame game
And while time moves on problems stay the same
When will we open our eyes to the truth
And admit that the source of the issue
Is the same source of our beautiful art
The culprit was and is the human heart

Beautiful poem… love the rhythm and rhyme ✅.
So much contemplative wisdom goes into pieces like this. Great work, DK
This has so much depth to it DK!! I love the overall feel of it and that last line just left me frozen in awe!! So beautifully done!!
This is just so good. I feel the same about key places where I've lived. And you sum it all up wonderfully. So much to ponder over in this piece, DK, I'm glad inspiration took you to these places!
Art-inspired poems are so cool! I love that it's just art feeding off art. Wonderful poem! You ask very good questions here.
Hard to work out which line is my favourite, they're all bangers!
I'm often struck by how driven we are as a species, to do unnecessary things, as if they are necessary.
This captures the essence of the big city scape, DK! A very thought provoking and wise poem!
A wonderful whole, but made of many amazing parts that stand strong on their own
Wonderful sentiment, D.K.! I love pieces that make the reader think, and this is one of them for sure. Beautiful :)
Yes, it always comes down to the human heart. Wonderful words.
Very cool piece of art and some thought provoking words from you :)
D.K, this is wonderful! The first piece I read today and will think about for the rest of the day. That's good writing in my book!
