Abstract Mosaic
An Ekphrastic Musing in an Interlocking Rubaiyat
With the best broken pieces he could find
He placed each colored shard just as designed
Garden of stone, but critics were cruel:
“Where’s the symmetry? It’s all misaligned!”
***
Don’t they see? Tessellation is a tool
No need to enslave themselves to its rule
If you make math your god you’re never free
And an arrogant fool is still a fool
***
Have you contemplated the mystery?
That we mere mortals crave sights of beauty
Or are you a prisoner of your mind?
Logic’s lines the bars of captivity

I. Am. Wowed. 🤩 That is some serious crafting writer skills! *IM. PRESSED.*
Excellent Ekphrastic poem… I can’t choose favourite lines… they are all good 😃.
I love it, so legitimising of freedom in creation.
Just. Stunning. I am and have always been heavily in favour of abstract art. I do understand the argument against it - like anyone can make any old pish and call it art - but I also believe that intent, reason and situation, environment and a whole host of other things dictate it. Art is hugely subjective and down to personal taste, also. So yeah, I love that you took inspiration from Gabriel's amazing piece and created your own expressive take! Just, and I'll be broken record about it, Stunning.
Such gorgeous and thought-provoking lines here! Abstract art has always fascinated me. "If you make math your god you’re never free" <= wow! Such an awesome line. :) Great work!!
Fantastic work, D.K.!! I'm so honored to be included at the end here :) I love the spirit of boundless creativity that you so artfully express love for here. Cheers, my friend!
If you make math your god, you’re never free. Love this so much.
I love the last line especially!
Celebrating the aesthetic power of asymmetry is a noble end, pursued with style herein!
Oh, I like this. As I previously said on Gabriel's piece, I've never been a fan of abstract but I am gaining an appreciation for it. Love this line "Logic’s lines the bars of captivity." Well done.
