Moving Away
The Breakup Nonet
Photo by S. Tsuchiya on Unsplash
These streets have seen my first, wobbly steps,
shared my joy of Sunday ice-creams.
On the way to school and back,
the town watched over me.
Now that I have left,
I know I’ll be
forever
looking
back.

I can see why this won! Marvelous! What languages do you speak? I'm learning Turkish :)
In the film Amadeus, Salieri says of Mozart's music, 'Displace one note and there would be diminishment. Displace one phrase and the structure would fall.' Every word in your poem belongs and works with every other in building to a finale of love and longing. Simply stunning poetry!
Congratulations on runner up in the nonet challenge!🎉🎉🎉
Just popping back to say WELL DONE on placing,😁
Well deserved Runner Up placing in the challenge 💖… a very different slant on the challenge!✅
Such an evocative poem! Congrats on placing!!
Hi Kp - You are such a master storyteller/poet who is so easily relatable in any language/culture. Thank you for your kind words while I was out. But, I'm back within the VillageBucket 'Humor' section with my silly shorts/and goofy sketches - I've missed you all..! j.k.in.l.a.
This is sweet and nostalgic. Well done on your challenge placement 🥹😇🙏🏻🌟🫶🏻💜
I love your nonet - congratulations on your win!

Gosh this was excellent. Can totally empathise with this. Definitely miss my home town.
This one is bittersweet
Well done Popiel.
Love the subject matter of this! The farewell to a beloved place! Great nonet, Katarzyna!
This reminded me of my childhood home. My, how times and places have changed. A very touching nonet!
