The flowers, the colors, it is the Bride's day,
But don't forget the Mother of the Groom made it happen in so many ways.
She took a boy you now see as a man,
To be strong enough to give his Bride all he can.
The struggles, the times he was sick and down,
The Mother of the Groom was around.
When his heart was broken and life seemed shattered,
The Mother of the Groom showed him what mattered.
You see a man, loyal and true,
The Mother of the Groom remembers when her little man had the flu.
You see a man of strength, dignity and pride,
The Mother of the Groom sees her son as a bird ready to fly.
As he takes the hand of his new love, to start a new life,
The Mother of the Groom watches her son and forgets all the strife.
She knows she did her job, she did it well
Now her new daughter will have stories to tell.
Stories of how this man loves her, how this man is her rock,
In those stories, the Mother of the Groom will take stock
You did it, Mother of the Groom, you made him who he is today,
Over and over, in so many ways.
As you let your boy become a man
Know this was always part of the plan
To nurture, to grow, to love and allow dreams
Being the Mother of the Groom is more than it seems.
From day one to now, through thick and thin, as the years span,
The Mother of the Groom gave herself to raising the boy into a man
The flower, the colors, it is the Bride's day
But don't forget the Mother of the Groom made it happen in so many ways.
About the Creator
Virginia Scarbrough
I love poetry and putting my feelings into words - words that can help others, words to give thought, encouragement and hope. Sharing pain, joy and raw emotions... that is the beauty of true poetry to me
