People think they know who you are
Most don't really take time to see anyone else's scars
They seem to live in glass houses with a perfect life
They make it appear they have no strife
When they ask how you are, how have you been
It is questions in passing, you can tell by their grin
If they truly accepted you for you
You would not feel judged, leaving you feeling battered and bruised
Judging someone who lives a life of loneliness and pain
Judging someone for dancing in the rain
Judging someone for the color of their skin or hair
Judgement here, judgement there, judgement, judgement everywhere
You talk too much, laugh too loud,
You're too noticeable in a crowd.
You're too quiet, you're too shy,
You're a wall flower watching life fly by.
You don't eat right, you're too skinny, too fat,
Maybe I have a medical condition, did you think of that?
Come as you are, you are welcome with us,
That is what they say, until the going gets rough.
If a word could be removed for this world
Judgement is the first I would hurl
Far away for people to see
You are you and I am me.
What I do, say and feel
These things to me are real.
Before you pass judgement on someone today
Remember the fact that your lives may be far from being the same
About the Creator
Virginia Scarbrough
I love poetry and putting my feelings into words - words that can help others, words to give thought, encouragement and hope. Sharing pain, joy and raw emotions... that is the beauty of true poetry to me
