Dear Selfishness,

When I needed you, you were there.

Without a whisper or whimper

You’d always care.

When others lost their temper

You’d strike down their spite.

When others scorned your name

You kept me in the fight.

When others wanted to shout and blame

You kept me in my right mind

All of the strength of my life

I could always find

Through stress and strife.

I could rely on your touch.

you always stood true.

I owe you so much.

Far from being the few,

You are the sole

Condition in my thinking

That propels me to make my next goal.

This keeps me from ever sinking.

Truly yours,

The Ego
