take me away

Sharing the night with something special,

watching you rise above the skyline.

Like a romantic setting, the moon is beautiful,

a peaceful background for my downtime.

Sometimes I wonder if the Man in the Moon exists,

wondering if he wonders what Earth is like?

Or is this all tricks and myths,

and we fantasise, instead, about our rotating satellite.

Sometimes I ask the Moon to take me away,

from the madness we see on this globe.

Somehow pick me up during your moon phase,

I'm barely hanging by thread of hope.

I can hear the Moon chuckle at my visions,

knowing too well she can't take us all in.

Spinning round in circles in our system,

rising to the top and falling to the bottom.

Once the moon is high above us,

overlooking our Earth,

its time to reign in my thoughts,

and let the moon finish its work.
