A trauma from childhood
Never divulged in entirety
For uncertainty in exposure
Misplaced fear of wanton destruction
She was close to baring all
But thought it too powerful
If dealt in one blow
So she told Jon in bits and pieces
He connected the dots and dashes
But could not help in healing
He was positioned off-secours
For although he had her allegiance
She'd pledged to a different flag
Never got used to living with that pain
Like protracted illness sure to be terminal
Imagine the strength of Ms. Melanie Greene
Who lived without her heart
Yet was compassionate and loving
Who was scarred by a past
That slowly consumed her from within
Constrained 'til her death
Ms. Melanie Greene: She lived for others
