Misguided Love

I thought I knew the way to you,
With every step, my heart stayed true.
But paths we tread were paved in lies,
And love was clouded in disguise.

I built my dreams on shaky ground,
Chasing whispers, never sound.
In every smile, I saw the light,
But in the shadows, lost my sight.

I clung to hopes that weren’t my own,
Ignoring signs my heart had shown.
In the maze of doubt, I strayed too far,
Wishing on a broken star.

Misguided love, so blind, so fast,
A fleeting thing that couldn’t last.
Yet through the pain, I came to see,
That love was not what it should be.

Now wiser from the lessons learned,
I’ll find the love my soul has earned.
No longer lost in empty skies,
But grounded where true love lies.
