Misfit Toy

Be smaller

By Emily McGuffPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

Be smaller, quieter

Fit between the words

Curl within the questions

Vault upon the verbs

-

Be who we want

The mold we make

The statue of

A different name

-

Your cracks aren’t set

Here let me help

Some spackle here

Or duct tape now

-

Dance just to the right

Now to the left

Close your mouth

Don’t ruin it

-

Misfit you are

On our island here

But you’re the toy

And we’re the hands

-

Sew tight your lips

Dim now your smile

You’re here to stay

A frozen girl

Upon

Our

Isle
