Midnight Stars and Silent Wishes

"Midnight Whispers to the Stars"

By ElliePublished 10 months ago 1 min read

At night, I gaze at the sky so wide,

Watching the stars in their endless ride.

Some shine early, soft and bright,

While others wake in the heart of night.

I whisper to myself, "Look and see,

Some stars take time, but glow more free."

Not all that sparkle come right away,

Some take their time, yet outshine the day.

A plane drifts by, cutting the dark,

And something stirs inside my heart.

A silent feeling, a breath so deep,

A voice within I barely keep.

I turn to God but hold my tongue,

A promise made when I was young.

"I won't ask for myself," I swore,

"Just let my parents smile once more."

I only wish for their delight,

For every dream they hold so tight.

But deep inside, a war is fought,

A half-lit heart, a restless thought.

Yet I keep my wish locked inside,

Even as tears I try to hide.

For all I want, for all I pray,

Is that they stay happy, every day.
