Return

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished about 17 hours ago 2 min read

Verse 1

When the veil grows thin and the light breaks through,

There’s a whisper soft as breath, calling us back to truth.

Not an ending, not a falling, not the closing of a door—

Just the soul unfolding gently into what it knew before.

Pre‑Chorus

No judgment in the quiet, no shadow in the air,

Only something ancient rising, saying child, you’re already there.

Chorus

Death is a return—

A return to the source,

A return to the eternal,

A return to the truth of who we are.

It’s not a punishment,

It’s not a failure,

It’s not a loss at all.

It’s the moment when the soul remembers itself

And finally hears the call.

Verse 2

So many who have crossed that threshold speak the same refrain—

A warmth that holds the heart, a love that has no name.

A feeling of coming home again after lifetimes on the road,

A knowing gaze that sees us whole and lifts the heaviest load.

Pre‑Chorus

No fear within that brightness, no sorrow in that place,

Only recognition blooming when we meet the Holy Face.

Chorus

Death is a return—

A return to the source,

A return to the eternal,

A return to the truth of who we are.

It’s not a punishment,

It’s not a failure,

It’s not a loss at all.

It’s the moment when the soul remembers itself

And finally hears the call.

Bridge

Oh, the love that waits for us—

Overwhelming, endless, clear.

Oh, the clarity that rises—

Life continues, always near.

We are held beyond our breathing,

We are known beyond our name,

We are carried into freedom,

We are born through light again.

Final Chorus

Death is a return—

A return to the source,

A return to the eternal,

A return to the truth of who we are.

Not a punishment,

Not a failure,

Not a loss at all.

Just the moment when the soul remembers itself

And answers the ancient call.

Outro

So when the shadows lengthen,

Let the heart be unafraid—

For every soul is guided home

By the Love from which it came.

If you want, I can also shape this into a more mystical chant, a hymn-like piece, or a stripped-down folk version.
