Messages for My Kids

To be aware, true, and kind

By Seema PatelPublished 7 months ago 1 min read
@Seema

My kids are my priority,

Just like any parent.

I want their security.

But I don’t teach them

To win spelling bees,

Master tennis or chess,

Or learn complex coding

At the age of seven.

No need to earn a PhD by 15,

Or rake in massive followers.

Instead, I tell them:

Know your flora and fauna.

Be inquisitive and appreciative.

Learn history and geography.

Understand the brewing crises

The problems of the present.

Educate others on the truth.

Expose cunning sellers.

Create a ripple effect.

Understand the link between

Health and the environment.

Learn how to avoid irritants.

Not only the monarch butterfly,

But all creatures must thrive.

Enjoy every moment

In the bosom of nature.

Don’t provoke it —

That will be your legacy.

We are mere mortals.

There’s absolutely no need

To be known as a demigod.

Just be true and kind.
