Have you ever dreamed of being a mermaid?

Or a merman if you are a male?

Have you ever imagined what it would be like to have fins or a fishtail?

What adventures await diving the depths of the oceans?

Have you ever tried doing fish-like motions?

And what would you see riding the currents deep below,

while feeling your way by the sun's penetrating glow?

I imagine flickering sparkles of refraction,

and a colorful sea garden full of crustaceous action.

Have you pictured the views you would hope to see?

What would they look like if you described them to me?

Do merfolk dream of being human?

Do they wish they had two legs to roam the land?

Do they dream of riding bicycles?

Or running as fast as they can?

Or maybe it's dancing they desire.

Do they realize how easily our legs tire?

Do mermen wish for pants and shirts?

And mermaids wish for pretty skirts?

Do they want to travel to various locations?

Or maybe try a few vocations?

Are they curious about transportation?

Would they want to join our nation?

And how would they even go about such a change?

I also kind of find it strange,

What would they really know at all about living on land?

Do they even know that we can fly?

Or that our summers are hot and dry?

And what do we really know about being a mermaid?
