Compassion given

when it's within my power

to punish or harm

Mercy looks away -

doesn't require punishment

for each slight given

Mercy sees clearly -

that I might be in their shoes

guilty, but for grace

Mercy forgives all -

not dropping safe boundaries

Just open the heart

Mercy opens hearts

and lets go of fear, grudges,

anger, bitterness

Mercy opens eyes

so I let go of the hurt

perceive repentance

Mercy expunges

shame, transforms guilt - repentant

turn around chances

Mercy sees other

perspectives, helps me embrace

thankfulness is all

Mercy is thankful

in all things, good or tragic -

thankful hearts transcend

inspirational
