Mercy And Grace
Neither Is Easy

My wife invited me to church but seldom would I go
I had too many secrets that my spouse just didn’t know
I knew I was a hypocrite, why add unto it more
Deciding it was better not to open up that door
My wife had always prayed for us, her faith’s extremely strong
Now suddenly this change in me, I’m sick of doing wrong
I started taking walks where I could speak to God alone
Not knowing if He’d hear this evil sinner from His throne
The secret I was keeping…I was having an affair
For her and for my daughter it just simply wasn’t fair
I don’t know how I came to this, I never would have guessed
Our pastor wouldn’t counsel me ‘til after I confessed
That evening was a dreadful night for me and her the same
I broke her heart confessing that I’m totally the blame
What started as a fling concealed a devastating fact
Adultery in its many forms is such a wicked act
It’s then my wife revealed to me, “Our daughter’s very sick
She needs a marrow donor and she needs one very quick”
My wife was not a match and asked if I’d agree to test
I told her, “That’s our baby girl, I’ll do my level best”
I moved in with my brother as my world came crashing down
Yet all the while I’m wishing that my troubles I could drown
My wife suggested therapy while fearing we were lost
I marveled at this woman and the marriage vows I tossed
Apparently when love alone had failed to bond us tight
It seems by putting faith in God, He set our footing right
We’re far from fixed but that’s okay, it’s me that needs redeemed
We’re making strides through therapy, it’s better than I dreamed
If mercy is withholding something I truly deserved
Then grace is me receiving something truly undeserved
Our marriage may be stronger once we’re through this roughest patch
Our daughter too is doing great, I was that perfect match

Was this based on actual events? If yes, I'm so glad you're a perfect match for your daughter!
