Careful! The Plates Are Very Hot!

The primeval soup, served in a Petri dish

You can slurp it down, but you cannot finish

What evolution brings to the species fetish

Is a potpourri of ribonucleic acid relish

.

The rubbish by which life seeks to nourish

Near misses — a series of mistakes to refurbish

The few that arise, destined to flourish

Shaming the many who are left to perish

.

The right helical bonds, time will burnish

Sooner or later in life's delicious furnace

'Cause a hundred apes with typewriters furnish

Shakespeare, if you skip all the gibberish

.

The dinosaurs were suckers, lame ducks, and myop'ish

Never looked up to see what would extinguish

The lot of them — the final course served prehistor'ish

So, it wouldn't hurt none for us, then, to be skittish

.
