MENtal Health

A struggle

By Robert ScheckPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

MENtal Health

A man should never cry nor shed that tear

Is what I was told when I stood here

Shoulders up a smile on your face

Push through your life and win that race

When obstacles hurl through the air

Accept with ease their unfairness fair

Man up I was told with a stern command

No slumping good posture up now stand

The world requires something of you you see

As a man you must be built differently

No tears no showing signs of a weak mind

A slap on the face why return it in kind

Exert that dominance fight for her hand

If you stumble even once you’ll sink in the sand

Do not show what’s going on deep inside

Is what I remembered whenever I cried

If you cannot provide unconditionally

They don’t care no matter how you try

So chin up I was told as I marched out here

Stop being weak be a man is all I could hear
