magnum opus

rhythmic pressure builds, softening the portal between heaven and earth

tanging wafts of copper, iron, broken soil, and celestial dust

glistening saline over gritted teeth coalesce with the heaves of breath

a primal exhale. a sacred cry. symphony of a cosmic yawn

behold, the ceremony of life emerging in their blessed, transcendent dawn

About the Creator

Kristen Balyeat

Words fly to me on the wind, bump into me as I'm strolling the city, splash me in the face while I rest by the river, and shake me awake in the middle of the night—I’m humbly one of the vessels they use to come to life.

Also, i love you:)

Rick posted in Vocal + Assist that you were one of us! I’ve just revisited the description of the challenge. Your’s is the most engaging of the poems I’ve read so far - I’m so sorry I missed previously but Congratulations!! With ‘magnum opus’ I have read twice and this was a must for me. I am drawn, I have no choice as I was completely immersed. From the first line ‘rhythmic pressure builds, softening the portal between heaven and earth’ - to the last: ‘behold, the ceremony of life emerging in their blessed, transcendent dawn’ I deeply feel the magic of your sensory language and cadence. A beautiful love poem exemplifying the wonderment of birth - a new life emerging into the World. On a final read I explore to identify the 5 senses. I find this part of the intriguing process. With kindness and gratitude Pauline 🌸

😮😮😮 I’m still in a state of awe after reading this gem. It could have easily taken the grand prize. Regardless, it’s my favorite of the ones recognized. I’m thoroughly proud of your creation and you for creating it. 💖
