Luna

letter to the moon

By Jennisea RedfieldPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

My Beloved moon, I stand under your iridescent light, in awe.

Your beauty enchants me, your silver glow bathing me in such serenity.

Every night, you slowly peek away, waning, waxing. But you always come back.

Your fullness rounds out like a ripened belly, full of fertile seed.

Dearest moon,

While the sun teases at your light, I am mesmerized.

Tell me, can I count the rings of your nighttime rainbow?

Blow kisses to the rabbits who reside in your essence?

Follow the swallows who reach to your loveliness each year?

Or am I cursed to be away from you?

To never join you in the blackness of the void of night?

Am I in envy as odes and sonnets are waxed to your glory?

Is it jealousy that makes my heart yearn to be like you?

Moon,

Luna,

Dibiki-giizis,

Luno...

My beauty, my heavenly light.

It is easy to bask in your glistening body,

All while the beauty of the sun burns and blinds us to darkness.

You,

My nurturing moon,

My heavenly, glowing jewel...

Will I,

Someday,

Be able to shine like you?
