Tonight I peered into the mirror...

I'm seeking a younger child who's lost!

Dejected breathing, pondering if...

that inner child is forever lost?

Intensely, yearningly to enclose

that lost little girl I used to be,

just squeezing her in the biggest hug;

'fore my whisper, "yourself you can be."

About the Creator

The Schizophrenic Mom

I am a mother of 2 precious angels who drive me slightly more crazy

than I already am with a diagnosis of schizophrenia.

When asked "are you crazy?!" my favorite come back is:

"yes! And I have the papers to prove it! How about you?" LOL

    So sadly reminiscent of our youth—so powerful and relatable.

    A bit of a sad poem. Perhaps our inner child never dies completely however, it is silenced by life as we change and grow older. Nicely Written!!

    I have long been past the stage of longing for my child self, but you have beautifully written how we all felt at one time or another. Well Done!!!
