I see the way your eyes light up,
but never when they see me.
Your chuckling moves within the discuss,
a melody implied for somebody else to keep.
I stand near, but never near sufficient,
a shadow in your sunlit world.
You talk of cherish with a delicate murmur,
and my heart breaks, unheard, spread out.
I wish I might be the one you hold,
the title you whisper late at night.
But cherish is unfeeling, a severe destiny,
to long for what is never mine.
So I will adore you from a far distance,
a noiseless wish, a calm hurt.
Covering up sentiments I cannot appear,
grinning delicately as I break.
