Loving Death

Peaceful Endings

By Lady Karina BenishPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Final photoshoot

Tomorrow I must say goodbye

You have tried to stay, for me

Last week you asked to be let go

I cannot ask you to keep trying

It isn't fair when you are ready to go

A good day to die

As my heart breaks, it also is hopeful

You are leaving for a long wait

Waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge

With Hawkeye, your predecessor

Pain free, running, bucking, farting

Before his injury

My heart horse reincarnated

I will now have lost you twice

Twice the heart ache, yet twice the love

I would not be who I am without you

My teacher of life lessons, again I graduate

First level Dressage schooling second level

Tomorrow I will drive with you to the end

I will weep for the time we will no longer have

Weep for my failures to protect you

Memories will leak down my face as I leave you

My heart will ache and a part will always stay with you

A good romp

This night, I will gather friends

Close company, those who knew you

We will celebrate your life with a toast

Surrounded by loving friends who know

Know how much I miss you at this, the end

And he pulled a wagon and plow too!
