Love

Is Not Always Free

I want to walk with you hand in hand,

I want to sing songs by the sea,

I want to be free to be with you,

But I must take my time,

I am a lady of many broken dreams,

Giving my heart freely came at a price;

That price wasn't cheap,

It cost me a lifetime of bruises,

Both inside and out,

And,

The highest price was my

family,

Please forgive me,

I don't mean to make my love

conditional,

But I have learned that unconditional love leads to

pain,

And;

I am just trying to protect myself,

My heart and family,

If I could let go of these barriers,

I would,

Having your heart ripped out multiple times,

Teaches you that,

Love is not always free.
