Love

Ahsy Thompson

By Da’mon-Ahsy Eugene ThompsonPublished 4 months ago 1 min read

The giving of life and the guiding of eyes,

The bright light of a beautiful furnace.

This same light can make us go blind,

As its beauty can easily burn us.

An afterthought in most of our minds,

Until it sets beyond the horizon.

We get closer and closer the more that we climb,

Can’t touch it, but still we try it.

It makes way for life, but also may take,

Her fiery temper erratic.

It’s hot and scorching, burning my face,

But still, I know I must have it.

Her love, like the sun, a blessing and spark,

Without her love, my world would be dark.
