Love’s Seas

A love poem

By E'LISEPublished 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

We write our devotional love story

into existence

with the reflective assistance

of two hearts continued word persistence.

But you seem to resist it a bit

unwilling to see, that this could be it.

And that’s okay, because honestly.

I do too.

And if I’m a reflection of you

And you’re a reflection of me.

Then of course

we would both be hesitant

to jump in the boat and see.

It’s scary to weather the unknown seas.

I don’t want to wreck you.

So I’ll hide.

And you don’t want to wreck me.

So you’ll fly.

But unfortunately,

Getting wrecked is what ships do

when they venture out into Love’s ocean blues.

And regardless of what we do,

this tide is already pulling both me and you.

Out from the islands of solitude.

And into the truth

of Divine Union attuned.

So inevitably,

The only way for us to find safety

on loves shore

is to become the great explorers

and swim courageously

through these salt water doors.

And trust that what we’ll find there is more

than what we ever could have prayed for.
