Love is: Gentler Than a Prune

A love poem

I conceived thoughts of you under the moon,

Even a promise is poison ivy;

Settling is gentler than a prune,

Your eyes a garden, the thorns are lively.

*

Why love, must you bidden me to search him?

I burn with passion, till you fill my well.

My cheeks they blush, bright pink, until I dim;

The seed you planted to bid me farewell.

*

Now you’re back and my hearts now tender.

I hear you whistling into the wind,

Your cold air upon my legs, I am under,

This spell, and in a moment I am pinned;

*

Against the wall, you go against my will,

Risks, a happy pill I will take until.

    What a whimsical blend of tender longing and thorny truths! "Gentler than a prune" is a phrase that lingers with a cheeky charm. The imagery is vivid, and that ending twist—what a punch! Lovely work, and here's to spreading those sevenfold hearts! 💖🤗✨

  • This poem is beautifully layered with emotion and imagery. I love how you weave the complexity of love and longing into each verse—it's both passionate and conflicted. The line "My cheeks they blush, bright pink, until I dim;" really stands out to me, capturing the vulnerability and intensity of feeling. There's such a rawness to the way you describe love's power to both ignite and overwhelm. Truly captivating work!!!
