What is love? Is it an emotion? Is it a feeling? Everyday you hear about it being a wonderful thing, making you feel like you are walking on air. Or it makes you feel like you’ve died and gone to heaven, things like this when i hear about other people's love life.

There is something no one seems to talk about when it comes to love. Everyone is so focused on the surface of love, they don’t think of going past the surface. Only thing that they’re focused on the lovey dovey things, and not seeing the deeper meaning of love.

Being in love with someone, is like handing them a loaded gun, to the point it at your heart, and you doing the same. Having one mistake, one lie, one betrayal, one small mishap. That trigger is pulled by one person, and now the other person has a bullet in their heart will never be the same.

Once that kind of damage is done to the heart, that person will change. Now they see everything differently, yet they are trying to heal themselves. Putting themselves first, self love, self care is what they are focused on. Even so, that heart is still fragile, and can break so easily, yet each time it is broken the soul slips out more and more.

That person is also trying to love as if they’ve never been hurt before. At the same time they are so distant, so hardened, so lonely. It turns them numb, making it harder for them to trust, when someone comes along and shows them any sort of love, kindness, or compassion, and they don’t know how to react.

Not sure whether or not to trust this sort of thing, not knowing how to approach the situation. Because last time they loved someone, they got hurt. Slowly, very slowly they begin to trust, to love again. Deep down inside, the walls are still up. Almost as if it seems as if they are ready to get hurt again.

This being said, what if these walls are knocked down? Then what, well know this person is vulnerable to the point where the second they feel any sort of distance. Instantly will retreat back into the person they once were before. A black cold, hardened icy heart, they do this to protect themselves. Next time they will make sure never to let down their guard the same way.
