This is not a happy poem

There are no smiling faces

Nor cheerful glee

About love is what this poem happens to be

That 4 letter word

It promises wedding bells

Beautiful people saying I do

But of the feelings of betrayal it never tells you

Crying rivers making snot and tear waterfalls

All because of he or she

The ones that told you, you were their person

You wonder why they couldn’t put you first then

The good times do not outweigh today

You’d rather not have loved at all

Visions of their smile in another’s face hurts

There are no such things as innocent flirts

I love you with all my heart forsaken all others

A track on repeat that echoes in your mind

Love seems to always struggle to stay true

Why love why so much pain must you put me through

This is not a happy poem

The sun is no longer shining

To love means pain and pain is love

Desperately trying to keep your head above

But what do you do when the water has reached your lungs…

It’s not killing you

You are alive

And you can breathe, but

You can’t stop drowning

heartbreak
