Love As An Art

Another Game

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 7 months ago 1 min read
Art by Motivate Me

just a taste

a tender touch

a steady pace

a hint of love

bits of my heart

ain't all that much

the angel blushed

in the devil's clutch

fell for the snare

she took the bait

was unprepared

but couldn't wait

tempting the heart

tempting the fates

love as an art

worthless, without the pain

so, she tore it out

her heart, from her chest

laying it down

for the devil to taste

how could she know

he'd played before

when cards were shown

she lay, lifeless on the floor

not dead or alive

simply breathing the air

devoured by the shrike....

an angel without prayer

Oh my. At first this one soars, but when it crashed I felt the bitter sting of it. It truly is both beautiful and heartbreaking, Kelli. Loved the pic too.

  • That was so heartbreaking. Loved your poem!
