Love Alphabet
I know it is love as well as I know my alphabet.
Aged like a fine wine, even when my
body is not like its past. Your
coat goes on me when I am cold, like it is the one
date when I saw the snow fall as you said 'I love you.'
Eons is what I wish for us; I don't want us to
fade. I want us to be the moon, here for all time.
Gaze in my eyes, love, like you will find gold in them. My
hair is now gray and thin, but you say
'I love it' even if I don't.
Jazz is in the room as we sway and
kiss; it sets my soul on fire. We do not
lack time, even if we are busy with life. We
make time for it all. A look, the star in our eyes, a hand to hold, love. At
noon, we sit, eat, and talk. We have been from the day we knew we were it.
On that day in June of 1952, you gave a look that made me want for ever. I
pray the end does not come at all, that our love will not
quit. I look at you and see home. I did not give up on us when we were in
rags; my love does not care if you are rich or not.
Safe is what I feel when I am with you, and you with I. Our love is not a
task to mark off a list, it is our duty. Our path was not easy; at a time, it was
ugly and full of hurt, but we did not give up. We cut out a
vent to air out the pain, and we did not stop love.
When I am sad, you peer into my soul like you have an
x-ray and drag out the bad so I can heal. Each
year, we have and will show love with a
zeal that will not burn out.

"After" has five letters in it! I'm.not sure if you were going into the challenge but it won't pass. It's a beautiful poem though. So romantic. Lovely.
