Lost Sock Blues – The Ballad of Cotton Souls

(Chiếc Tất Lạc – Blues của Những Linh Hồn Cotton)

By Cường Phan ThếPublished 10 months ago 1 min read
Illustration of two contrasting scenes: "It's all socks..."

("I wrote this poem as a modern humorous poem, but the story in the poem sounds so sad.")

One sock’s gone, it slipped away

Left me lonely on laundry day

Tumbling round in a dryer maze

A mystery lost in the heat’s haze

Where do they go those cotton ghosts

Hiding out on some distant coast

Left foot’s cold and right one’s fine

A mismatched life on a laundry line

Oh lost sock where do you roam

Are you out there finding a home

In the dark of the machine’s roar

You left me here on this tiled floor

Maybe you’re dancing with lint and threads

Living wild while I make my bed

Sock rebellion or a secret quest

You always leave me with the rest

Found one hiding beneath the chair

But your partner's still nowhere there

Hoarding coins and buttons too

Is that the life that you pursue

Oh lost sock where do you roam

Are you out there finding a home

In the dark of the machine’s roar

You left me here on this tiled floor

Ôi chiếc tất lạc, giờ nơi đâu?

Phải chăng tìm nhà ở nơi sâu?

Trong tiếng gầm máy quay mịt mùng

Bỏ tôi lại với sàn gạch không chung
