Lost Love

The Pain of Letting Go

By ik dogenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

I thought we had forever,

But forever wasn't ours to keep.

Our love was like a feather,

So light, so fragile, so deep.

We laughed, we danced, we smiled,

Our hearts were one, our souls intertwined.

But now our love is exiled,

And I'm left with memories confined.

The pain of letting go,

Is like a knife that cuts so deep.

I miss you more than you could know,

But my heart is yours to keep.

The nights are long and lonely,

Without you by my side.

The tears I shed are only,

A reminder of the love that died.

Lost love is a bitter pill,

That's hard for me to swallow.

But I know that I must will,

To live today and not tomorrow.

So I'll let you go, my love,

And cherish what we had.

I'll look up at the stars above,

And remember the love that made me glad.
