The Pain of Goodbye

When Love Leaves

By ik dogenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

When love leaves, it takes a piece of me

Leaves me hollow, incomplete, and empty

I try to hold on to the memories

But they slip away, like sand in the breeze

The laughter and the joy, now just echoes

The promises we made, now broken arrows

The warmth of your touch, now just a memory

The comfort of your presence, now just a fantasy

The pain of goodbye, a piercing knife

Tears my heart and shatters my life

I try to move on, but the wounds still bleed

The scars of love, a constant need

I wish I could turn back time, and make it right

Hold you close, and never let you out of sight

But the past is gone, and the future is unknown

All I have is this pain, that I must own

When love leaves, it takes a piece of me

Leaves me broken, shattered, and incomplete

But I will hold on to the hope, that one day

Love will come back, and make everything okay.
