Lost in Your Illusions
The Pain of Believing in Lies
By Abdullah KhanPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

The promises you made,
I clung to them like hope.
Your soothing words, so warm,
Helped me survive, helped me cope.
The lies you spun like silk,
I unraveled the bitter truth,
But still, I held on tight,
Listening to your every move.
Every word you spoke,
I swallowed like it was real.
Every trick you pulled,
I let myself feel.
Your flawless performance,
I mistook for sincerity.
You stayed a maze I wandered,
Blind in my naïveté.
See how simple I was,
In you, I found my sky,
I thought I understood everything,
But now, I understand goodbye.
