Losing myself to becoming him

The lines between compromise and self betrayal blurs when…..

Losing Me to Be Him

I used to shine in colors so bright,

Living my days in warmth and light.

Now my wardrobe is quiet and bare,

Dark tones chosen just because he’s there.

I loved soft dresses, flowing and free,

Now I wear what he’d want to see.

His coffee is bitter; I drink it too,

Though I miss the sweetness I once knew.

I laugh at his jokes, though they fall dry,

Agree with his words, never asking why.

The things I loved are now set aside,

For fitting his world leaves no room for mine.

He liked the bold, the cold, the dark,

So I dimmed myself, put out my spark.

But now he’s bored; I’m no surprise

I’ve become a reflection of his own eyes.

The bright, lively girl who once was me,

Fades into someone I no longer see.

The line between compromise and self-betrayal

Blurs when you’re in love, and that’s the tale.
