Loneliness

Yearning for a feeling beyond the breach, just on the edge of arms reach.

Give me my knight in shining armor, my sword wielding king crowned by the unyielding stone.

Is it hope I crave, or perhaps that addiction known as adoration?

To see the hero parading through the city, haloed in glory. To hear the roar of a thousand voices crying out my name.

Anything to pretend that the world I inhabit is not on fire.

Action could come about if I donned the cloak, and swore unyielding resolve before the old gods, draped in the trappings of unbridled potential.

But there is no knight, nor a king to inspire. There is only the yearning, and the quiet - the emptiness of loneliness.

Author's Note/Update:

The last few weeks have been very tough on my end, but me and the folks are doing okay. My sister was in and out of the ER with double pneumonia, seizures, and low oxygen.

It's very difficult to be inspired to write when that kind of stress is going on. I try not to beat myself up, but it's incredibly difficult not to wonder how much further I could be if I posted more frequently.

Ah, it is life. Just gotta keep trudging forward and hope that my writing can carry me when I am otherwise absent.

Thank you for reading!

P.S. - I've been really enjoying the recent pieces coming out by Paul Stewart, Poppy, and Rachel Deeming. If you haven't checked them out, go give their pieces a read through! <3
