Little Red Riding Hood's entry into a Vocal Challenge
A Journey Through Writing Trials

Through the forest went Little Red Riding Hood one day,
Her basket packed, she was on her way,
Not to Grandma's house this time around,
A Vocal Challenge she had found!
"Welcome!" said the host with cheer,
"Write your challenges and make them clear!
First challenge up: A Villanelle,
Write the form and do it well!"
Little Red Riding Hood grabbed her pen with care,
Tried to craft the repeating lines with flair,
But the pattern twisted, came out wrong,
The judges the big angry wolves said, "That doesn't belong!"
"Try again!" they called with grace,
"The Shouting Challenge takes its place!"
Little Red Riding Hood wrote with all her might,
Words that screamed and showed their fight,
But too aggressive, harsh, and mean,
The worst vocal lines they'd ever seen.
"One more try" the head judge said,
"Find the balance, Little Red!"
Little Red Riding Hood thought of tales she'd tell,
Of forest paths she knew so well,
She wrote the challenge clear and true,
With perfect tone that simply flew.
The judges clapped! "At last, you've won!
Your vocal writing is finally done!
Keep on trying, don't give in,
That's how champions always win!"
Little Red Riding Hood walked home with pride that night,
She'd tried and tried until she got it right.
Moral to the poem:
Persistence turns failure into mastery; keep trying, learn from your mistakes, and you will find your way to success.

Love this! A fun poem, reflecting the reality of contests and competitions while trying to be creative and stay true - and an excellent moral!
that's a good message! I think many creatives are especially susceptible to doubt, and as fun and worthwhile as writing challenges or other art related competitions can be, it's all too easy to be discouraged by poor reception.
I love the moral to this storyβ¦ Donβt give up! We all have a winner in us!!!
