Once upon a time

in a land far away

a little boy stopped crying

and fell out of the sky.

.

his tears watered the gardens

and from his fingers daffodils grew

but still no one noticed

his pain as he flew

.

out struck the mountains

and down came the rain

the little boy grew rivers

out of the blood in his wrists

.

he made friends with the songbirds

who sang in lament

as the vines wrapped like snake skins

around the boy's neck

.

he didn't feel tension

there wasn't a scream

because even through winter

flowers have sweet dreams
