Little Lemon Flower, Redux

A poem

By Melissa IngoldsbyPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Little Lemon Flower,

How do you grow so far away

From the sun

When it’s raining, and the shoulder of shadow

Drinks in your tears?

Little Lemon Flower,

Don’t forget about the honey bee,

the Twilight balm

That creamed the crop,

The honey dew of orange-green stars,

A slice of lemon sun,

A drink of nectar

From your dreaming, climbing vine heart?

Little Lemon Flower,

Ghost Orchid wants what it can’t have.

Little Lemon Flower

loves another in a red box of green water spring love, tailored to an idea,

And idea of heavenly bliss in purple and another paired hue hidden behind smart words.

Ghost Orchid will love you from afar,

Hoping our petals unite

In pity, in fact, even if it is just

In platonic dreaming flight.

Little Lemon Flower,

Ghost Orchid misses you so bad,

They are choking on the ghastly

Beautiful Swamp Thing’s orchid petals,

Hanging in the air like a real ghost.
