Little Goodbyes

To Everything, There Is A Season

I feel it in the air today

little hints of a goodbye

Orange, red and yellow

spinning gently, from the sky

They call it fall, ironically

as every season dies

Blending winter, spring, summer to fall,

as autumn welcomes October skies.

Golden fields that once were green

Cornstalks ablaze with gold

new colors speckled in the trees

Falls pallet majestically unfolds

A bit of chill is in the air

harvest time has come again

Red and green tractors everywhere.

summertime finds it's seasons end

*

The once bright blue, warm summer sky

Adorns a lighter, cooler hue

Everything changing in its time

summer days are gone too soon.

The mustard flower replaces daisies,

leaves let go there's summer grasp

The morning drives to work are hazy

and fall like feathers to the grass

*

Enjoy the colors while they last

the seasons have there limits

Another year goes by too fast

and we age along right with it

nature poetry
